The Fractured Realms

Journey up Dragon Mountain as told by Cora.
"Dragon Mountain Accent"

So we continue our perilous journey up the mountain; said to hold our next Rod peice we are seeking. I’m happy to have left behind the pesky, noisy, young Dracos’ or Draco Jr. and Dozer as the young niave one calls him. Man does it get cold up here though not too happy about that. On our way up the mountain we encountered some frosty dragons that ambushed us from below the snow. We were able to slay one but the other two managed to escape after my failed attempt at bargaining with one of them.Of course not before scooping up (the character that doesnt exist atm but might, possibly, apparently, hypothetically, in a manner, in a sense, on paper, probably, suppositionally, assumably, doubtlessly, hypothetically, in all likelihood, in all probability, indubitably, it would seem, most likely, on the face of it, presumptively, seemingly, supposedly, surely, theoretically, and, unquestionably, be named Leera) the little niave girl unfortunetly. So at this point we quite possibly have an Sadistic Ogre Mage, and an Magicly Protected Undead Abomination on our trail and we lost the little boy Peter was protecting, the monkey Ziff, my Shade, and now her too! Man if we switched our game up and took jobs or quest involving losing things or people I’d bet we’d all be retired by now. I mean we only lost Shawna Mae like 5 times. This land twists and turns everything against you here, it truly is a dark place. Luckly for our little niave companion she managed to get saved by a brass dragon, (Pun not intended!) with a temperament of pretentiousness that I would say rivals the Treetop Tricksters’. But who am I to judge, we got the little one back safely thanks to this dragon. I’m looking forward to getting some rest, at least we have a safe haven for the eve. Tommorow shall be interesting for we shall be entering the Red dragons lair.

Forward for The Great Markovian Tale by Katrina Goram
The tongueless speaks.

When I first scribed this epic tale I was still in shock. It wasn’t until I had finished and had time to let the experience wash over me that I realized what had taken place. Years ago I was taken from my family and not too long after that I was turned to stone by a powerful Lich. The next moment I knew of my surroundings I was with my father in a most magical and dangerous dungeon. I feel responsible for the death of the Gnomish man, though I know in my heart of hearts that murder was not my intention. What is told in this story is the truth. It is accurate. It is real. The reality of this story, however, does not take away from the incredible talent of The Storyteller that is evident in his work. He wishes to keep all but his name a secret – and I will honor the wishes of the master of dungeons; I will keep my word to the teller of stories.

With this I show my honor to my faith, my cause, my father, my family, and the crew and kingdom of The Page Turner.

If my life gifts me with no other achievements, I can be proud in knowing that I helped spread this great literature.

Divine body, Divine Mind, and Purity of Soul,

The Wait

The Mountain blows up, sky fills with dragons of all colors. Amiss the wings and scales fire and lightning, ice and acid, wind sounding like tornados. I once again loose my brother and sister. Knowing that I have a few weeks to meet up with them, I stop by a monastery for some rest and relaxation. I lean some new skills and then set out again to meet them at the tavern.
While waiting at the tavern I run into Earnest and he warns me about 2 people that might not have pure intentions, A mage named Edwin and a gnome who goes by Gnolagat. But That I needed to cooperate with them for they know the location of a few rod pieces that we need.
As I wait in the tavern for my friends and siblings Gnolagat and Edwin arrive. They match the description I was given so I just sit quietly and observe them. I do not move or introduce myself. Gnolagat immediately went to the bar and started drinking, paying in gold rather then silver. Then bought drinks for the entire tavern that turned them into orcs. After I turn down Gnolagats offer for a drink he can’t seem to understand that I have no need of drink. He keeps asking even after I tell him I’m awaiting friend’s arrival and must keep my wits.
After about an hour after the patrons ran out of the bar in an orcish fassion, the city guard enter and talk with the owner. They seize all 3 of the barrels of ale that seemed to turn everyone a bit orcish. Gnolagat intervenes, with a quick bribe of some gold to the guards; he convinces them to leave the barrels of ale.
Latter that night the gnome convinces the owner that he needs to drink the ale and after about 4 drinks and looking a little tusky HE bashes the door down and runs into the street. A while later Edwin retires for the night. Gnolagat starts going through the rooms in the upstairs. He has a beautiful set of bone lock picks but he broke one trying to break into a locked room. He then found out that the pieces turn into skeletons. When he was being attacked Edwin took control of them a trinket that he “found” with necrotic writings on it. No one with good intentions would ever use undead for there use.
It is now late and my friends and family have still not arrived. Edwin and Gnolagat have now retired for the evening. I find a corner to meditate behind the counter and wait for morning.
The morning is filled with more antics from Gnolagat. A few broken windows, an alarm nothing really entertaining except the gnome trying to play innocent. This is just more proof that Gnolagat is up to no good. We still have no sign of my family or friends. We start asking around in town to see if anyone has seen them. After a few hours we find someone that said they were seen going into a cottage just outside of town. When we get there a sweet lady told use that they were tricked in going into the basement where we found a coffin from a vampire. There is no sign of the vampire or anyone else. Just another reason I dislike the undead.
As I was in checking out the basement my brother was found by Edwin and Gnolagat. We go on without the rest of the group knowing that we need the rod pieces as fast as possible. With some help from Edwin we set out to find the Storyteller.

The storyteller

We find the one called the storyteller, after being teleported to an island. He invites us into his house for a bit of tell tailing. As we enter everything goes black. I awake to see only my brother Mason and our new friend Gnolagat. We are in a small room that’s so dark so we cannot see any walls. As the storyteller’s voice echoes all around us. Telling us that we will participate in his story or consequences will be served. We discover that we are in a unnaturally dark room with a floor or walls. As we search around the room another path appears out of the darkness. There is an echo again saying that everyone congratulates the rogue. I didn’t say anything. The storyteller’s voice again echoes through the area stating that “The priest will regret not congratulating the Gnolagat”. As the echo dies off, 10 skeletons appear around me. With a quick flick and a flash I turn them to dust. We start off again into the darkness searching all along the area for another path.
As we find a few more paths the Gnolagat spots a pile of gold just off of the solid floor about 5 feet in the darkness. He tries to walk to it and falls off the edge. He reappears right behind us as if he fell and landed there. So we now know that jumping off will not lead us out of this dark maze or even to death.
The next room we came across had 4 statues and nothing else in the room.
After figuring out that the statues look like they are pointing to something. We try to turn the statues so that they will all point to the same area. To our surprise they turn rather easy. As soon as the last of the statues are turned the final click is heard two of the statues come to life. After a brief introduction and an awful lot of don’t shot don’t hurt them Mason, Gnolagat and I meet Felix and his daughter Katrina who can’t talk. Off in the distance a target is spotted and the only one that has a ranged weapon other than rocks and a dagger is Felix. As Felix lines the shot up we all wait in anticipation. Twang the arrow is released after what feels like forever Felix says dang I think I actually missed. He starts to line up for the next shot. Right as he is about to let go the first shot hits the target and echo from the storyteller rings out “congratulations” as another path opens up.
Katrina for some reason obviously distrusts Gnolagat. A few minutes later on a path in the darkness that is only 10 feet wide. Gnolagat tries to trip Katrina and then she touches him and he turns to a block of golden ice and is knocked over and shatters. I only caught a glimpse of what happened.
After that the path opened up in to a pool of water. In the pool there was a water elemental laying in ambush. After draining the water we defeated the water elemental. Another task completed and another path way to follow.
The path way starts to wobble and we lose our footing. My brother fell off the edge and disappeared into the darkness. None of us could catch him before he fell. Knowing that falling will not kill you just drop you somewhere else. That’s what I was hoping when he didn’t fall right behind us like Gnolagat did.
After 3 hours of wobbly floor, moving platforms, and almost falling to our deaths we finally arrived in a large room that was stable and solid with a door that was cursed. The Saying was something like “This door is cursed and only by healing it will it open.” After another 2 hours and a few painful attempts we finally got the door open. In the next room I saw my brother crumpled on the floor bleeding through the cracks in his armor. As we entered the room the rune on the floor started to glow and 16 undead appeared and attacked. My brother started to wake up and healed himself so he could help in the battle. After a few turn attempts I realized that they were just too strong inside this desecrated area for my divine powers so we would just have to beat them down the old fashioned way. Somewhere in the fray of combat Katrina fell and the undead curse took over her mind and body.
After subduing Katrina we meet the Storyteller who happened to be a undead litch lord. He after hundreds of years he had seen the light of good again and turned himself to dust. After that the island that was this maze of darkness crumbled and fell into the ocean. Where once again I became separated from my friends and family……
